Hmm. The problem is that the characteristics you're asking for (fun, exciting, by the beach, good schools) do NOT match up with affordable. If you think Irvine is expensive, you should see Newport Beach, Newport Coast and Laguna! These places are all fun, exciting, by the beach and with good schools but ... the closer you get to the beach, the more expensive it is. Five miles from the sand in Newport, a 'normal' sized family house (on a 1/10th of an acre lot in a nice family neighborhood) will cost you $2.5m+; that same house on the ocean side of PCH will cost you $4.5m - and with an ocean view, it will cost more. Beyond Laguna, going down the coast toward San Diego, it gets less expensive. San Clemente is much more affordable and (by rumor) has a good high school but you're farther away from the entertainment you say you're looking for. In all honesty, I think Irvine is a nice compromise. University High is one of the best high schools in the country, and if you can manage to afford a place somewhere West of the 405 (like Turtle Rock), you're not a lot farther from the water than you are some places in Newport. And - as someone else noted, you have the Spectrum in Irvine; Fashion Island in Newport etc. for entertainment.......

No shopping today, all the stores are closed. It is Christmas, even the cashier's have a break today.
Some Stores open at 7 and 8 am in the morning.

Don't know of any clothing stores that are open but if you need some medicine, Walgreen's is open on Christmas.

Mostly convenience stores will be open today, most retail stores will be closed. Many stores will be open early on Wednesday.

I called to see if any were open in my area and could not find anything but a few grocery stores and gas stations!

YOU HAVE TO CALL AHEAD AND FIND OUT-SOME STORE EVEN WITH THE SAME NAME MIGHT BE CLOSED--SUCH AS SOME CVS STORES ARE OPEN ANDSOME ARE CLOSED.
