Okay. Next year I will come to study in NY. And I really afraid that some people/students will find my pronunciation and my accent sound funny. So my question is: Is it funny for you when somebody speaks English with accent even with subtle accent?
Thank you for your answers.

Accents are cool, as long as you're understood. :)

It is not funny, peculiar, etc, for me...but I have been around the world, and heard a lot. I have been told-by Australians, Germans, etc-that I have an accent...when I do not seem to myself to have one. Some Americans will tease, or verbally abuse, you because of your accent, and others won't. There are more forigners in NYC than most other places, so you may seem more 'normal' there. Don't worry. If I have an accent it is mid-western, while New Yorkers have several different accents. You will probably fit in well enough. If people do comment on your accent, do not take it to heart. Just brush it off, and say:"at least I'm not rude."

Some accents are funnier than others. Actually in most of the US we find the Brooklyn accent funny, which is part of New York! We have many regional accents here, and you will find many of them up and down the East Coast.

New York is a very cosmopolitan place. There are people there from all over the world. People who live there are used to hearing strange accents. There are places in the US where accents are rare and speaking with an accent will raise eyebrows, but not New York. We have many people there and here in California whose accents are so strong yo have trouble understanding them. So I wouldn't worry about it.

New York City probably has more accents per square foot than anyplace in the U.S. There are always a few people that make fun of accents, but those people are idiots, and are not worth your time. Don't worry about it; a decent person probably won't say a word unless perhaps it's to ask you to clarify what you mean if an accent is a heavy one.

Sometimes especially when they get excited or angry I think they are speaking a foreign language.

But in normal conversation, no not really funny, also ppl in the US speak with several different accents depending on where your from so we are use to accents here

If you are coming to New York City (not countryside) then you have nothing to worry about. New York City is so large and there are so many different kinds of people there, you will be fine. Don't be afraid, people move to NY all the time and have great experiences. Good luck, and enjoy.
If you are moving to New York State(upstate, countryside), you will surely be accepted and have a great time there too.

Where are you from? Do you find it funny when Americans speak your language with a funny accent? I don't find ANY accents funny.

no, i think people will understand. a lot of people have accents and speak english. i think it's cool, but i can't pull off accents that well. some people may make fun of you, but just ignore them. it happens to everyone, so you don't have to worry
