You probably irritated the skin from not wiping properly. If this happens again, find an old rag you can wipe with and then toss away. (Oldtimers actually used newspaper or pages from the Sears catalog) but of course they could drop it in the outhouse hole and not worry about clogging the plumbing they didn't have.) After you shower and dry, put some cortisone cream on your bottom or just a dab of vaseline.
Now, if you continue to see blood, see a doctor. If it's bright and fresh, it's not as serious. It might be a hemmorhoid or small tear in the skin. It's the black, coffee-grounds look in the stool that is frightening.

If you feel a stinging sensation around your anus it may be due to an anal fissure which is a cut in the tissue around your anus.

If not, suggest you check with your GP to determine if the bleeding is internal. May be suggestive of a ruptured colon or even cancer. This is one situation in which pain is a good sign

Bright red blood in your feces indicates a bleed in your lower GI, close to your anus.
Maybe hemmoroids? Or, do you eat alot of seeds that may have punctured your large intestine?
See a doctor.
