Lean Manufacturing: Get anything on Sigma 6 you can.
Ah! check with Books a Million I recall seeing some Lean Manufacturing books there.

Went though that course once. All I could think about was there goes my spare motors, there goes my spare relays, there goes my spare solenoids. There goes my conduit, there goes my wire:
The whole time in the course because being in maintenance. All they talked about was cutting down on inventory.
That whole idea is great until a line goes down and there are no spare parts to repair it and get it back up and running. You are down several days waiting for parts.
Your lose in product for one hour more than pays for keeping the part in stock.
Then there is the money cost by lost production. Your aren't making it you can't sell it. No matter how lean maufacturing you have gotten.
You don't have a product to sell you lose money, lines down and not meeting orders you lose money and customers>
You lose customers you are out of business.

Just remember that when thinking lean manufacturing.
