im 11. I dont just want one to be cool. I want it in case i have to call my parents, or for emergencies... My dad might let me get one(hes still not sure tho) but my mom is definitely un convinced. How do i convince em i neeeed a cell?

How about YOU suggest getting one with limited call functionality.
You CAN ask a supplier to lock the sim card down so it can call only a predetermined list of numbers. SO set in home, parents mobile No's school No etc etc etc
Then they can feel safe that you can contact them in an emergency, and they can contact you, but you cannot run up a big bill

Start asking for additional chores to save up. Show them that you are willing to contribute and want this more than anything else. Start saving up to help with the costs. Chances are there are 2 things that they are worried about - if you run over your minutes or texts and it costs them a lot, and that you may not be responsible enough yet. Find ways to show them that you are responsible enough to get a cell phone. Responsibility is earned so be willing to take things seriously when they trust you to be responsible. Do your chores without being asked, or do a random extra chore without being prompted. Bring it up here and there, but not every single day. They don't care about other kids, so stay away from saying "well they have a phone, why don't I?" Take time to look into plans to see which rates are best. If you plan on texting, find somewhere that has unlimited texts, also you may convince them if you raise enough to buy the phone and get a prepaid type. Problem is you would have to buy your cards with additional minutes, and they are expensive. If all else fails, that might be the way to go - I am sure they will let you do a prepaid one if you come up with all the money by doing odd jobs and extra chores. Good luck.

Ask for a Trac phone with something like 30 minutes on it. Or have them get you a Firefly, which the only numbers that can be dialed are ones they program in. And you can only receive calls from those numbers as well.

I'm 15 and I have no urge to get one , there expensive and just plain unnessasary for someone as young as 11

The only things you NEED is food water and oxygen, beyound that everything is WANT. My daughter will have to get a job and pay for her own just like I did.
