Each era had their toughest guys. Probert was the best of his. If anyone was lucky enough to beat him, thye got beaten down twice as hard, later on. Ewen, Crowder Berube, all beat him, then were punished later that game, or the next time they met. He beat Craig Coxe, from Vancouver, it was a good minute and a half, of haymakers, then ended it with 2 uppercuts. That one stick in my head. Probie is my pick for this, but I am a Detroiter, so call me a homer if you want.

Bob probe rt, Tie Domi, Tiger Williams
Gordie Howe was a an awesome player and a better than average fighter but Probert Domi and WIlliams were in a class of their own.
Best Current: Boogard and Laraque.
ALSO ANYONE WHO HAS STU GRIMSON OVER JOE KOCUR AND MARTY MCSORELY IS AN IDIOT

Dave "The Hammer" Schultz - the ultimate muscle for hire after he left the Flyers, playing for three clubs who were in need of an enforcer....wore boxing wraps for a short time, until the usage was banned in the NHL/WHA due to others picking up on the means to protect the hands while delivering some solid shots....may be the only enforcer to sing a tribute to life delivering punches - recorded a single in the mid-1970s entitled, Penalty Box....in one season recorded 472 penalty minutes.

bob probert. joe kocur was brutal in his day also. we in detroit were spoiled to have them both for quite a while. they were known as the bruise brothers. anyone remember when kocur was w/ the rangers? a large fight broke out during a game and the two of them ended up going w/ each other. when broken up, they touched fists, smiling. i want to say this was around 1993? dave williams surely makes the list, too. domi qualifies as best goon in history. i recall cherry and maclean ranking the top three fighters one night years ago. grapes comment? "i don't know if i rank kocur among the top three fighters. now, if you wanted someone killed.....!"
