I have a honda four wheeler with an electric shifter. I can shift from neutral to first with no problem. When i try to shift after that, the neutral light and the speedometer flash and it will not shift. It will stay stuck in whatever gear it was in.

It is caused by the "Angle Sensor" which is on the front of the motor almost in the center. It has a cover over it and probably just needs to be removed and cleaned and reinstalled.

Previous answer is best right now. If you find out it's not electrical (which it probably is) I've had similar problem. Unfortunately you will need to have high level mechanical inclination to fix what I had to. But the mechanic won't know either I promise, I found it by tearing the motor out and taking apart entire clutch assembly and checking everything. When you buy the service manual look for the clutch assembly section (maybe gear shift) I believe the part name " shifter plate "or shifter drum (It's a small part behind the clutch basket). The small bolt that holds it in, backs out for no reason. Use "Lock tight" and tighten. Very extensive problem for one stinkin bolt! The reason I am so certain that its probably simple electrical is because of the flashing lights, which is a code. Problems with hardware such as above and shift forks are not sensed by bike. Be sure to check what I did before diving into trani for shift fork problem (the tranis are very dependable and a lot more work) .

Good luck and I am almost certain it's a simple electrical problem which you can troubleshoot with manual. But just in case (see above).

You need a service manual to troubleshoot the servo motor.

Could have internal transmission problems like a bent shift fork.
