The specific problem is that when I turn it on, it just flashes black and blue. The game cartridge and internal hardware are clean, by the way. Anyway, I tried searching the internet for instructions on how to fix this. I found plenty of instructions, but I get the idea that they are for a different model, because the internal parts for the one I have and the one in the pictures on the internet look drastically different (though I did check to make sure they were talking about the NES and not the SNES). Any ideas or instructions?

the blinking blue screen is an indicator of a bad 72 pin connector. you can buy new ones on sites like ebay for like eight bucks or something, and they are easy to replace
