Is there a way I can uninstall things on my computer to make more room on my RAM? Or is this something I need ot purchase? I'm trying to install a program for my son's new digital camera for Xmas, and the program says there's not enough RAM. The required amount is 245, and I think it says my computer only has 120. How do I check where the RAM is on the computer?

Thanks for your help

Right click My Computer -> Properties -> General

It should have something down on the bottom right that says something like Pentium (R) CPU 3.40GHz 3.39 GHz, 2.50GB of RAM.

That last bit is the amount of RAM you have installed.
The higher the number, the better. It comes in denominations as small as 128MB.

It's a stick that is inserted into your motherboard that allows your computer to run absolutely everything on your computer.
The more you have, the faster things get (depends on your processor as well though).

To buy more that is compatible with your computer, there's a tool at www.crucial.com that you can use.

It will tell you how many memory slots you have (one stick per slot), the maximum amount of memory you can use in your computer (older computers from even just the year 2000 have very low limits), and will suggest only those sticks that will work on your computer.

If you buy the wrong ones (and it's quite easy to), they won't work for you.

Hope that helps you!

If you only see 120mb ram, it means you have 128mb installed and 8m used for "video system"

Really you HAVE to try to find a shop with some "old" memory if you want to upgrade that to something useable, BUT the cost of ram for that old a PC will be HIGH

You'd be better spending the money towards a new "entry level" PC

how old is puter??never heard of 120meg of ram...what OS? Right click my computer on desktop/properties should see ram installed. Cleaning up your computer..uninstalling will free up some ram but will not add more ram to computer if that is what the program needs. New computer at best buy was 199.00 after Thanksgiving.Good luck...Merry Christmas....

your computer is seriously outdated and you should get a new one by now. BUT if you dont have enough money, then i suggest you go to Crucial.com. this website will do an auto test and tell you what kind of RAM you need. RAM is hardware so deleting stuff is not gonna help you. by the way, you will have to open up the computer, BUT i built a computer and i'm 15 and it is very easy. if you want to buy the RAM, go on tigerdirect.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.
