Can you see if he's conscious? Has he been able to roll himself up onto his belly at least? If he has, then bracing one side of him with bales of hay will help, they have trouble breathing if they're laying flat on their side. Try to get him rolled onto his stomach if you can.
Call a nearby farmer and ask for their vet's phone number if you don't have an emergency number.
See if he's breathing ok, if he's alert, if he's showing pain in any area, if any of the legs are bleeding. You'll need to tell the vet all of this.

If the Animal Clinic is open, call...If they are not open there must be an emergency clinic on call. Have you tried to get him up at all? If it is cold you may want to cover him up with blankets to keep his body warm, but try to call someone, even the SPCA

if your donkey is older, then, i hate to say it, but that might be the end. my friends horse was older nd it just dropped one morning and couldn't get back up. if he/she is laying on its stomach, it still has a good chance of getting back up. but if its laying on its side, his/her time may have come to an end. if the vets office is open get a vet out to your house to check him out. just follow the vet after that. oh, and another thing, if its cold he could have gotten frostbite or something. do you have a blanket on him? well im srry if he/she doesn't make it. but if he/she does, be careful next time.

i know, but there has to be something for emergency calls, please do that. i think it's totally cute that you have a donkey, pl. help him now. i know you have this possibility in the states (unlike a lot of places in europe) for emergency cases. merry christmas x
