Im 56 my wife is 58, kids have left the nest etc, and things are very happy etc. this morning (xmas day) wife brings me toast, tea etc in bed, and we exchanged presents. On opening a present she gave me, I found a pair on handcuffs (plastic) I was initally shocked and also intrigued and excited, is this normal ? she said it may bring a boost to our sex life, which I thought was pretty good after 30 years together ! am I being naive ?
Didnt know anyone else to ask !

You aren't being old OR silly. She's just trying to initiate something fun. Doesn't mean anything is missing or that she's bored, neccesarily, but maybe she'd like to try something new. Old dogs CAN learn new tricks, by the way! LOL..just kidding. Try it and see what you think! You may enjoy yourself. If you don't, say so but tell her you are open to new things and try something else.

you're a lucky man to have a woman who's still interested in sex and your body. Generally the menopause slows down a woman's sexual drive, so lucky old you to have a lady who still wants it.
Some of this may be for her benefit too. Maybe she is feeling a bit older and looks at all the young women around on screen and on the telly and magazines and worries that you fancy them more than her. She may be in need of some reassurance that she is still gorgeous, fanciable and loveable as when you first married. The handcuffs are a way of saying that she still wants you, and perhaps wants reassurance from you too.
If I were you, I would tell her how utterly gorgeous she is, how she can still surprise you delightfully after all these years and then go with the flow.
Consider yourself a lucky man, and tell your wife that too. She sounds like a girl with a lot of spirit in her!

Sounds like you and your wife have a very solid marriage! Your wife just wants to spice things up a bit, and there is certainly no harm in trying out handcuffs. You can take turns to see who likes which role better, and even if it doesn't do much for either of you, there's no harm in trying. It can be fun to also have a blindfold, feathers, etc., around at the same time. Your initial reaction sounds positive, so go for it!

Maybe. Always nice when you find out something new about someone, even if you've been together a long time. Don't complain, ask what your wife's fantasy is? Nothing wrong in spicing up you sex life, even after 30 yrs.
Being cuffed requires trust. I'd suggest two pairs plus chocolate body paint, ice cream and whatever else your imagination requires.

"Pretty good" is...pretty good. What's even better is, your wife still loves you, she still wants your bod, her imagination is still crackling--now that's outstanding! Let the part of you that's intrigued and excited take control.
And what's with this "normal" stuff? Did you sleep through the '70's (and the '80's, and the '90's, and...)? One of the defining characteristics of humanity is our infinite capacity for sexual variety, even if it's with the same partner. God bless us every one!

Its just a bit of fun, go for it and enjoy yourself, just ask your wife what she wants to try and both of you will spend a lot more time in bed!! :o)
