There are now pens
For a diary I would have to say paper.
There is something that is translated by the way in which I write that conveys so much more about my state of mind than the words could every possibly do on their own.
However I recently had an accident that left me without the use of my hands. I had a lot of emotions that to write about. The only way I could do so was to use the one finger on my left hand to hunt and peck my way through. Shift, ctrl and alt keys were out of the question. So sometimes the computer is the only way.
If you ever want to edit your diary a computer is much easier to rearrange.
It also comes in very handy when you want to use your diary as a reference.
You can do a word search for birthdates or to remind yourself what anniversary present you sent.
So both paper and electronic would be good to have.
I have not got my hands on one of these new pens that store what is written, but I do like the concept. It may be worth a try.

As long as you keep the notebook in a safe place, no one can hack into it. Of course, you could also keep your diary on a floppy disc and have all the benefits of keeping it on computer (editing, easier writing, etc.) without putting it on your hard drive. And the disc would be easier to hide than a hotebook.

Whichever makes it easier to write your feelings down. I do better writing in a notebook, but that's just my personal preference. You may want to try both options to see what you prefer.
If both options work fine for you, I'd say saving it on the computer takes up less space in your house. But if something happens to your computer, you've lost your old journal entries. Both options have pros and cons.

Paper! I've always found that later you will cherish you own written word more so then typed letters on a page.

It depends on you, really. What I like, you might not like.
I personally like paper because you can take it everywhere, even places where laptops are not allowed.
