Being an avid Astros fan and just as equal of an avid Cubs hater i like the idea. I hate their franchise, their city, their fans, and even most of their players. There arent many guys who play for the Cubs that i would even want the Astros to sign if the guy was a FA, as a matter of fact there arent any at this point in time. If they retired it would be better for baseball. We wouldnt have to hear them whine and moan abt their stupid curse or that Bartman ruined their chance when in fact it was their own collapse defensively that ruined it. We wouldnt have to deal with the same crap every yr, the "oh were gonna make it this yr, this is our yr" bs. Every team thinks that, but Cubs fans are abt the only ones who ever flaunt it like they are so great or something. I cant say that i would miss them at all.

I'm far from a Cubbies fan but the Cubs should never retire. They are overall an excellent franchise with one of the most if not the most loyal fan base. And they aren't just taking up space in the central. Watch them this year. With all the talent they have and the talent they've acquired over the past 2 years they will be the front runners for the NL central this year. With Derek Lee ( 35+ HR) Alfonso Soriano (40+ HR) Aramis Ramirez (30+ HR) All potential 100+ RBI guys. And the rest of their line up is pretty decent as well. They also have a pretty damn good pitching staff with Zambrano Lily and Marquis. This is one franchise that will never retire.

I know it's been 100 years and 1945 was their last WS appearance. It's easy to bash the Cubs. Let's look at some other teams in baseball.
Washington Senators/Texas Ranger 1961 1st year
Zero WS appearances, won division 3 times (last time 1999)
Houston 1962 1st year 1 WS app
Seattle 1977 1st year Zero WS apps, 3 div titles
Expos/Wash Nats 1st year 1969 Zero WS apps 1 div title
KC won WS in 1985, since then... NADA
Pirates won series in 1979, div in 1992, since then...NADA
Brewers 1WS app 1982, since then..NADA
Including the Cubs, which of these teams even have a chance to sniff the playoffs or WS? Brewers and those "taking up space" Cubs.

You can't kick them out, they have one of the most loyal, true, non-bandwagoning fan bases (Hear that you bandwagon Red Sox fans) in the majors, and they still can bring in the dough. If teams were kicked out because they hadn't won the WS, then the Red Sox would've have left long ago, or the White Sox, or the Indians. People seem to forget that they are historically bad teams, like the Cubs, that are just good now.

I agree. Any team who can't win a World Series is taking up room. They need to go. :)
