In ancient times, the Greek letter "Chi" was used as shorthand for "Christ", as it was the first letter. The letter "Chi" is actually written "X". So X-mas is just an ancient symbolic was to write "Christmas", and is not meant as an offensive thing.

Yes since it is named this way for the day of Christ's Birth.
X-mas well we might as well be slapping God in the face.
God Bless and Merry Christmas

Absolutely. I guess the X is used to take out the Christ in Christmas, which is absurd because Christ is what the holiday is all about.

Yes, It is Christmas- I never use Xmas- even though it is shorter- I figure I write 5 more letters for Christ.

It is Christmas. Some people shorten it with an X because they can't very easily make it +mas, which is more appropriate.

I don't, think about writing merry christmas on a small tag that wouldn't fit all that. i'd rather write happy x-mas that struggle writing all that on a small piece of paper.

I agree. X-mas just defeats the purpose of the holiday, which is christ.
