BE ACTIVE!!!!!!
It will speed up your labor (I promise). Clean your house, and walk, walk, walk.
When my cousin was in the early stages of labor, she was at the hospital and wasn't dialating very fast so the nurses told her to get up and walk. She really couldn't go far since she was hooked up to the monitors so she just stood up and kinda swayed back and forth and it really worked.
Good luck and congrats.

I was in early labor for about 36 hours hard back labor...with only 10 mins active pushing but I was induced. Early labor is just part before you start pushing so it could be anyone's guess. Just make sure to time your contractions to know when it's time. I would try taking a long walk or maybe having sex with hubby...just to speed it up.

I think once the contractions get like 5-6 mins apart or even 10 you can go to the hospital. How far apart are they?
Oh, and you can be in early labor for days.

Put a movie in, have a kitchen timer, notepad, and writing instrument next to you, have some hot tea or something calming (not caffeine) and RELAX. :) Just focus on the movie (not an action flick) and just jot down your contractions. Every pregnancy & delivery is different. If this is your first, then you will learn the most in the next few hours, days, weeks & years. ;) Oh yeah, and keep your bags packed and in the car... baby's on the way soon. The hospital is expecting to see you again... but waiting at home is MUCH BETTER than waiting in a cold hospital room! :)

It's different for everyone. Some people can be dialated at 1 cm for a few weeks before they dialate more and for others, it happens overnight. The hospital around here won't keep you if you are not dialated to 4 or more and your contractions are 5 minutes apart for at least one hour.

I was in labor for about 10 hours before i just had to go to the hospital, the contractions were so bad. Even then i was 6cm dilated and had to wait a few more hours before she was delivered. RELAX :)
