Yep don't date someone who is just separated. I understand a divorce can be a long process. Nevertheless there is a chance for couples getting back together during this fragile state. Not good to get caught in the middle.

Dating yes, having sex with someone else no, having sex at this time simply enhances the emotions and you can get caught up in a rebound relationship that is going to bring you nothing but trouble. It is actually best if you stay out of the "dating game" altogether to keep your emotions in check until after the divorce is final..."going through" a divorce doesn't mean the marriage is over, "going through" a divorce you are still married. Until BOTH parties receive a registered, final decree of divorce you are still married.

That depends on the people, but I believe that once the decision has been made to divorce, the couple is no longer tied to each other. But I do believe that this should be decided on beforehand by the couple, just so they understand where each other stands. It should not be a secretive thing if the divorce is still pending.

Personally, I've never had to date a married man because I've always had more than enough single men to fill my time slot. I think there are alot of desperate people out there (particularly women) who don't have very high standards. Yahoo is filled with tons of women who are not only willing to date men, not yet divorced, but are also more than willing to settle for the leftover scraps that a married guy (who hasn't filed--never will) gives them.

Nope. If the couple is separated this doesn't give the either person to go out as a couple with other people of the opposite sex. The divorce should be finalized before starting to date.

Once a divorce request has been filed with the clerk and recorders office, both parties are deemed to be 'single' in the sense they can move on with their lives.

If you feel that you are ready to date, there is nothing legally that can prevent this. Obviously you are not free to marry again until the divorce decree is final.

Good Luck to you.

No, because the divorce isn't final till the divorce is final. Lots of people file and then change their minds. Let them finish their business first, then they can date till their eyes pop out.

If they are happy dating, then why the divorce in the first place?

Wow! That is a powerful question. Have you asked your lawyer? If you do not have a legal signed separation you could get into some dicey problems that might end up costing you a bundle! Divorce laws vary greatly from state to state so before you date ask your lawyer.

DO what feels right! I actually didn't date for 6 months after my separation just to have some me time. But.. I kept my options open and I am so glad I did. I met the man of my dreams and remarried into a complete and udder bliss.
