I assume you mean that you hear sound before you see the picture. That effect has nothing to do with the speed of sound and light. It has to do with the fact that the electronics that opperate the screen take a moment longer to warm up than the electronics that opperate the sound.

This is not because sound has a greater speed that light. The only reason this happens to your TV (and to many others, including mine) is because the light tube behind your TV screen usually takes a few more seconds to light up than your TV speakers.

watch for the power LED,
it glows first as u switch on ur TV.

it was a irrelevant answer, but it was.

ur question make no sense, have u ever blowed up the crackers,
or observed the lightening, the sound came later before the light.

also in a short distance u can't precisely observe this, because of very high speed of light than to our sense signals.

technically speaking, that is what you would normally expect, but the theory of relativity states differently: the is no speed greater then the speed of light, whatever the reference system. So sound(or anything else for that matter) cannot ever exceed the speed of light

The tV uses a componener tha gets charged fully before the "gun" inside starts shooting the lines u see on the screen

The light travels first in electrical circuits before you hear the sound. It is only the monitor that works delayed.

There is more of a time delay in getting the screen to display because it has to charge up capacitors first.

you got the wrong concept
we need to warm the CRO(cathode ray oscilloscope) in the tv to get the colour(actually, it is a series of beaming electrons).
We get sound first because it is directly operational.
The colour go later to heat up the CRO.

I think that we must include the nervous system in this question. Ultimately the brains reaction to the stimuli must have an influence. Perhaps there have been studies done on this matter.

sounds like you have an old tv with a tube that needs to warm up.
