sure, prenatal vitamins won't do anything negative to you but if you aren't planning on becoming pregnant there is no need for you to take them specifically. you can just take any women's multi-vitamin, there are also multivitamins that are specifically for different purposes.
also, prenatal vitamins don't make your hair and nails grow faster, being pregnant makes your hair and nails grow faster because of the enormous increase in hormones.

Why would you ever want to take that garbage? Because a doctor recommended it?
You need to really look hard at what that garbage really is. It's not easy to live in America today and be healthy. The CDC in 1905 reported less than 5% of ALL Americans were chronically ill. In 2005, the CDC reported that 53% of ALL Americans are chronically ill. There is very good reason for this.
The same CDC has reported that children born in the year 2000 will get diabetes at alarming rates now. 35% of Caucasians, 53% of Black children, and 62% of Latino women will get diabetes in their lifetime!
The prenatal vitamins are in pill form. If you add up all the milligrams of chemicals in that pill and then multiply it by .05, you will see how many milligrams of Magnesium Stearate are in it. This is a trans fat and immune suppressant that also inhibits nutrient absorption by up to 80%. There are other excipients in there like, silica that is sand. They also leave residues of talc on the pill from the machine that makes the pill. This is a known carcinogen!
The ingredients are so called synthetic vitamins that should be called what they are, chemical activators. Vitamin B-1, Thiamine found in there is made from "coal tar." The Ascorbic Acid is a single nutrient that is called Vitamin C, but is another chemical activator that is typically an extract of beet sugar. It won't even cure scurvy. Also, the ascorbic acid does not contain any of the other cofactors that support it for good absorption, so it has to draw these cofactors from the body and depletes the body of minerals and nutrients.
These chemical activators do not nourish the body, but can cause it harm. In fact, so called synthetic vitamins only help you at first for a very short while, but then damage your DNA.
The statistics show that people who take multivitamins, shorten their life expectancy by about 5% over those who don't take them. There is very good reason for this.
Most children today are getting high incidences of ear infections, colds, and diseases. They are being bombarded with dangerous vaccines that are ridiculous. Is it no wonder Americans are getting sicker as we age? Is it no wonder we now rank 24th in longevity in the world. 23 countries have people that live longer than Americans!
Because mother's are typically deficient, when pregnant, in the correct fats, the children are getting many of these diseases, like ear infections because their nervous systems and other body systems are not being developed properly.
Doctors are not qualified and are precluded BY LAW from doing anything but first diagnose a disease and then treating it ONLY with drugs or surgery. They are unfortunately the last place I would look for nutritional advice.
Their typical canned answer is, "eat a balanced diet and take a multivitamin" to get all the nutrition you need. When asked about what is a balanced diet, they point to the food pyramid that was bought and paid for by the food industry.
If you really want to take something that will be the equivalent of a "good vitamin complement" that contains most of what you need everyday, go to: www.healthline.cc (not .com) and purchase the "super food trio." This is a combination of 3 bottles of nutrients (buy the capsule forms, not powders) that are grade 10 and contain the entire compliments of once living source foods that are biologically active and will nourish your body.
good luck
