AOE3 is a memory and video hog. I'd go with a basic Gateway or Dell probably. The main advantage to those is when you reinstall windows, they can reinstall as many times as you need to without having to do the activation you get saddled with if you build your own clone and buy windows seperately.

Get a good GeForce fx8800 series type Nvidia video board. I'd get a minimum of 2 gigs of RAM (4 if you can afford). Specs should probably include a dual core Intel (quad if you can afford). That would be more than sufficient for most games. The new GeForce 9000 series are due out any day or maybe already out so the price on the 8000 series video boards should have some good deals available now. So if you can save $300-$400 by getting the default video and upgrade by installing the GeForce 8800 series later on you could save another $150-$250 or so.

First of all here is what you do,, Never get a computer from a manufacturer like Dell, HP, Compaq, the reason for this is you can't upgrade them from third party sources. they have to be upgraded by the manufactures,,, at high costs...

so have a system built by a local computer shop. to the spec you want. plus if you have problems with it then you can aways take it back to them... and the after sales service will be better and faster.. the little computer shop is always the best people to buy from... they have to give a good service to stay in business...
