Even with glasses I can barely ever get the thread through the hole on the needle. Any suggestions?

Are you using a needle too small for the weight of the thread?

Yes, there are "handicap needles" made by Schmetz, but they are very fragile.

A better choice might be something like the Perfect Sew needle threader, which I can actually use with my eyes shut. Put the needle threader along your right index finger, and insert the little wire hook through the back of the needle. Drop your needle thread across the hook, and pull back.
About $3-4.

There are also easy thread needles that have an opening in the eye so you can just drag the thread over the eye to thread the needle.

It's a problem, and I cannot thread a needle without a needle threader. If you don't have one or two, go to a craft store and buy you a few. I have to use them on my sewing machine, and for hand sewing also. They are cheap, several in a pkg. Wouldn't be without one.
