We're getting ready to open presents and I don't even have mine wrapped yet... well sort of I guess. They're wrapped, but it didn't come out right. There is tape going left and right, the wrapping paper is all crinkled up, part of the gift is even showing as it tore out because of the poor wrapping. and although it's a box with fancy clothes inside, the whole thing is circular and looks like I will be giving everyone a basketball for christmas judging by the shape because of the wrapping. Would u be fine if your family member gave u a gift like this? You know what they say, it's the thought that counts and the fact that I tried. How do u wrap a box or anything for that matter. I also got this funny shaped thing for my mom. Although it is very small, the wrapping paper makes it look as if I have given her a new TV set

my husband is an awful wrapper and i think it is funny, wrapping doesn't matter and if anybody cares more about the presentation of the gift then they should be ashamed of themselves.

The best solution is to put the object into a BOX that can be wrapped properly. However, no one will judge you by your wrapping ability. There are a lot of folks in this world who can't wrap worth a damn. That's why those fancy gift bags have become popular. You pop the gift in, add some tissue on top and you're done. You can also buy boxes that are already wrapped. Just take the lid off and pop the stuff in. These were all invented for poor wrappers.

advice for future:
get rectangular boxes that are large enough to hold whatever odd-shaped item you have. wrapping a box should be easy and would avoid having to wrap odd shapes.

or you could buy one of those special gift bags where you put the gift in the bag and cover with tissue paper. this option completely eliminates any wrapping, which is perhaps the perfect solution for those with poor wrapping skills.

as for your current situation, most people will probably forget the lousy wrapping after they've opened the gift. or you could become the butt of regular jokes. whenever birthday and christmas times come around and someone notices a poorly wrapped gift, they might just say "hmm, not too hard to guess who this is from"

I wouldn't worry, my dad doesn't even bother with presents he gives us a card, if he does give us a present, it's like your saying you can see what it is. Just tell them the paper is not so easy to wrap with before you hand them over, it will be fine. Its easier to wrap if you have the right size bit of paper. I usually lay the paper flat and roll it over (the front, side and back) then cut it making sure the sides all meet up ok, but not too much extra. Then put the box in the middle of the paper and fold the paper over it, meeting in the middle and make sure it's tight before sticking tape down. Then fold the sides. Sometimes it just takes a bit of trial and error.

If you have a loving family, which I'm sure you do they wouldn't complain about how the presents are wrapped. That's just being cranky. WHO CAN BE CRANKY ON CHRISTMAS MORNING?! Maybe the gifts would've looked nicer with neat wrapping, but hey it's not the wrapper or the gift that matters. It was the act of you giving the present. I mean...hopefully you are giving the present haha. Merry Christmas man enjoy!

Just put a bow on the gifts if they are hard to wrap. Anyone should be grateful for even getting a gift. I wouldn't worry about it.

I love Christmas and "crappily wrapped" gifts are just a fun reminder that we are all human!
