While it is true that keeping sliding glass shower doors is difficult, I would not go back to a shower curtain. I am like Monica on "Friends" as far as housekeeping goes, and take down my doors every year and scrub every nook and cranny, scrape off the caulk and re-do it. That is about a two hour job, and if you can't spare two hours in a whole year, then don't get the doors. Installation is easy. Get a hacksaw; you'll likely need to trim the aluminum parts to make them fit just right. Other than that, you will need wall anchors (I have ceramic tiles, and this was absolutely necessary) to mount the vertical pieces. The outside tub edge must be completely clean and dry (use alcohol); just before you lay down the bottom piece on the tub edge, lay down a nice S-shaped line of caulk, pretty wide and thick, to seal the underside of this piece. Make sure it's straight and level, then before it sets up too much, dry-set the vertical pieces with the top horizontal piece also dry-set in place, mark the wall with pencil where the holes for those vertical pieces need to be. Leave the bottom piece in place, drill the holes, insert the anchors (if needed), dry set all pieces again, put screws in, caulk inside and outside all pieces, hang the doors, and you're done. I'm a 51 year old single woman, and if I can do this, you certainly can. NO one showed me how to do it and I did not use directions. It is simple logic. Cleaning is the worse part of having these, but the convenience is much worth it.

I've had my shower doors for almost 10 years now and will never go back to a shower curtain again. I've never had a problem with keeping them clean at all. Before I get out of the shower I always wipe them down with a dry towel, so easy.

I would probably hire a professional because doing it yourself always seems to take more time and have problems. It's much nicer to have shower doors. I've had both by the way and never thought they were that hard to clean. Curtains however, are apain in the butt to have.

I've done it and I'm pretty useless at anything to do with DIY or home maintenance.

Make sure you measure exactly the size of the space for the doors otherwise it's a big mess with all of that sealant stuff to fill in the gap. I'm sure you're more apt than I am to begin with, but it's just a suggestion.

i don't know how difficult they are to install, but i do know how difficult they make cleaning the tub. you have to reach around them, and you can never get to the tub easily, you have to squeegee them every time you shower, the tracks get dirt or rusty.... i prefer being able to toss the shower curtain in the wash and not have a fight with the doors whenver it's time to clean.

They look nice but the upkeep are a pain you can get alot of mold growth and grim in the channels has to be cleaned more often ,those are just the reasons we steered away from it because i though about it,but it's much easier to replace the liners every couple months.

You should be able to ask someone who knows who works at Lowes.....who seems to be experienced. They have helped me out with some bathroom problems. Or go on the web and search on how to install bathroom doors for bath tub. Hope this helps

I went the other direction simply because I couldn't keep the water spots off. If you do this, make sure you hang a squee-gee and orders to everyone to use it after EACH shower! Good luck!

It's a pretty easy DIY job. Keeping them looking nice and clean is a major pain.
