The bank will charge you a fee for the currency exchange usually a couple of percent. Stay away from airports because their exchange rates are the worst - at least 15% fee which is factored into the exchange rate.

You need to find a bank that deals with international currency. Your local bank may not do it. But, they should be your first phone call - if they don't handle foreign currency, they might know of another bank or facility that does. (You'd have the best luck in a large metropolitan area like NYC, Miami, or LA, but other cities should have some access.)
