Hello. My boyfriend hit the ditch on the way to work this morning. He ran into some trees, and one that was a pretty good size. He put our 2005 F-150 4x4 into 4Low, and after he got pulled out, he discovered that it is now stuck in 4Low. Does anyone know why, and more importantly how to get it out? He is at work and I am despirately trying to find out so our Christmas plans won't be ruined. Thank -you so much. Merry Christmas.

In order to get the vehicle out of 4Lo you have to have the transmission in neutral, and if its a manual transmission the clutch pushed in. Turn the knob or push the lever back into 2WD mode and then backup 10 feet in a straight line to disengage the hubs.

If it still won't release out of 4Lo then the actuator in the transfer case needs worked on.

Hope this helps.

Oh, and you shouldn't be trying to drive over trees, that truck wasn't made for that. LOL.
