I've been looking for some kind of creative, practical and pre-designed software and/or program for indexing my private movie collection; I have been pretty much doing this on Microsoft Word, but I would like to find something where I can break down and draw up lists from my collection, based on things like starring roles, genres, etc...

My collection is in excess of perhaps 12 to 13 thousand titles, and although I am a fairly creative, artistic and resourceful person, I am also pretty much a technological dinosaur, when it comes to computers, programs and software (...although if absolutely necessary, I can pretty much figure out anything put in front of me)...

...any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!!

Ant Movie Catalog is good, free and available on the net. I use it for my video and DVD collection and it has a lot of fields such as what you mention (genres, media, cast etc) and some of them are customizable.

You can even download information from sites such as IMDb when it comes to commercial movies so it's very handy.

Check it out, it's pretty neat.
