Just received a response to one of my questions, from a user(which I want identify)who seemed to me to be an adherent from one of the world's major religions(also which I want identify).

After checking their profile and attendant posted info., I began to reflect on the (too)many aspersions cast back and forth by devout followers of this or that religion on this website.

Relating my reflections to those of the countless wars that have been fought througout the centuries in the name of religion, and the conflicts that resulted in 9-11 and the seemingly unresolvable one going on in the middle east, it caused me to wonder, what our world would become, be like in say 50-100-200 years from now.

Do you think that such squabbling will ever end, will this human race of ours ever be able to come together as one people(s), become one with the ONE universal BEING?

I personally, doubt it; and can only hope.

What is your perspective, and why?

"TEACHER": You're a hopless idealist. As much as I share your hope for such a world, and it is certainly admirable, considering our human history, for such as you describe to actually evolve and as beautiful as it may be, it's only a dream I fear: one sadly never to be realized. Anon. Wotan

I think religion will be a rather rare thing at some point in the future, probably before 100 years. The problem with most major religions, is they rely on books that are so old they have to be interpreted more and more to apply to modern society. When that happens, the whole point of the stretching gets lost.

I think in the future most people will be more philosophical than religious. There will still be a need for values and ethics, of course, and in fact the ability to really analyze the circumstances in light of ones values will become more essential all the time. Relying on an increasingly anachronistic religious book to determine values and ethics will make less sense as time goes on. To me, it makes no sense even now.

Frightening question actually. Look at Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia, even the suburbs of Paris and the mosques of London. If there were to be one religion in 200 years, it would be radical Islam. That one universal human being would be an impoverished, miserable, devout Muslim with no rights, little property and lots of kids. Oh, and there would be squabbling. Lots of squabbling. There will be conflicts as long as there are humans. The price of liberty is eternal vigilence. Let's just try to perfect what we have here.

Many wars are fought for power . The one who wants this power will use anything or any scapegoat to get that power .A good example is the fracus going on in Iraq right now . The Shiites and the Sunnis are at each other's throats , because each wants their Mullah to be the next dictator .
If there was some way to remove the greed mechanism at birth , all over the world ,we would have real pease .

Humankind has stayed basically the same throughout history. Although information is more easily shared, and we have hope for a better tolerance of the beliefs of others, I see nothing to indicate that there will become one religion out of all those out there, nor any reason to think that religion will disappear. The world, for the most part, will remain as it is and how it has been throughout time.

Yes, it's possible to become one family under one universal being. One major part of that kind of a scenario would be if Christians got back to the Original Kingdom Gospel that Jesus actually taught! (The sacrifice gospel we hear these days is NOT the Kingdom Gospel)

I say this would be a big step, because this Original Gospel is much more in tune with the other great religions of the world. It would bring a harmony of east and west.

The "Gospel Enigma" online book (free read at New Free Books) explains how getting back the the Original Kingdom Gospel would bring harmony to East and West. So I think it is possible.

It's just a matter of getting back to the Original Gospel.

There have been different religions, and violent conflict between the adherents of these different religions, for *thousands* of years. Sadly, I don't think that's going to change in the short space of 50 or 100 or even 200 years.

Greetings! As much as I enjoy peace over war, I would hope that we do not become one universal being with one religious person.

We have many different ideologies as well as races, sexes, creeds and whatnot. To become one, to me, would nullify the differences of who we are.

What I would like to see one is an Islamic family bringing over a Kosher dish for their neighbors who are celebrating Hanukkah. I would like to see an older rich agnostic/atheist family bring over a beginning young Christian family a family bible for a special occasion. I would love to see a Mao Communist sharing wine with a Buddhist monk or a Hindu child happily playing with a Taoist child. In other words, instead of fighting over religious values, we bring each different value into each others lives so we all can be touched and by different ways and means.

I hope this helps. Happy Holidays!

I believe that eventually there will be regulation of religion to the point that NO TEACHER can advocate violence or encourage their followers to condemn other faiths. They'll be held accountable by law.

That said, I also believe that religion will be a private thing or a family thing and a don't ask, don't tell policy will be the official line.

Judging from current events and from time spent with Politics category. I can tell you this will never happen.

Even one language is not a possibility.

There used to be a common language worldwide call ESPERANTO, but that did not last long.

P.S. Merry Christmas

There's this theory called "New World Order" in which all the world leaders come together and rule the human race as one single nation, with one single religion.

I'm not saying I believe in it, but it's logical. So youtube and google video "new world order" and you'll learn.
