My belief is that since global warming is causing the world's ice to melt, there is more water and more evaporation. The more water there is up in the sky, the more type of weather you'll have. Also, since the gases are creating a layer in the atmosphere (I believe it's called smog), they are covering up the sun more and less heat/light can reach the land.

Joan H has a good point there.
Global Warming is increasing the average temperature of the globe. There will still be cold days wherever you live. What you need to keep in mind is that global warming will affect our climate far more obviously than our weather.
We will be seeing heat waves that last longer and are more intense. Severe storms will also happen more often and will be stronger.
Just because it may be 15 degrees below zero outside where you live doesn't mean that global warming isn't happening.

Because its a cold day. A cold day now is on average warmer than a cold day several years ago.

If global warming were so extreme that in 10 years the normal temperature during winter were 50 degrees F, and it was 40 degrees out, you could ask the same question, but I would point back to ten years ago when the average temperature was 30 degrees.

*Global* warming is measured on a *global* scale and over several decades if not centuries. What the weather is like on Dec 25th, 2007 in an Illinois town is pretty irrelevant as it is statistically insignificant. You should look at the whole world's temperature trends, not where you live.

it is getting warmer out, fall and summer are lasting longer.50 years from now, things will be way different..every thing gives off some carbon dioxide.which is trapping the suns heat.industrial nations are really, giving off excess ''carbon"ICE CAP is melting, sea level areas will become ocean bottom.and species will be come EXTINCT!sorry to ruin your xmas.its impossible to not excrete carbon,we breathe it out,but we can stop being so wasteful,it may never be "corrected".enjoy while you can.PEACE!

How cold it is today or this week is weather. How cold it is on average during the entire winter or year is climate.

Global warming is climate change.

There's still a very big difference between summer and winter.

But, on average each one is just a little bit warmer than it used to be.

That little bit is adding up, and threatens us with serious problems.
