No, you can rip music from CD's onto your ipod. you can also download something like limewire and save the playlist to your computer and open it with itunes.

You use iTunes (free), as a music data center which allows you to import/download multiple formats. You create a playlist that you want to download on to your iPod.

nope ive got none of my songs of itunes.
and igot the exact same ipod today too :)

you could use a cd or you could download off limewire

just google limewire and download

No - you can export other music from any music folder into your itunes folder. Make your itunes player your default and it'll speed things up.

no, you can rip music from cds you already own and put them in your itunes then you can transfer them to your ipod.
