Whether or not the 80% is equal to a 4.0 GPA is dependent upon the grading system used at a particular school. GPA refers to a "grade point average" or the all garde points divided by the number of grades given. In most cases, an A grade yields 4 grade points, B, 3 points, C, 2 points. *0% is generally considered a B grade, so it would yield 3 grade points. If it is an overall grade, the GPA would be 3.0 to 3.5.
