How many Saudi's got special permission to take flights out of this country right after 9/11 even though flights were restricted befre being questioned?

Some Saudi Prince's offered to donate a pittence of the money they make off of our addiction to their oil, in exchange for justifying the terrorist attack and lecturing the American public on our foreign affairs. Do you think they respect Americans?

Of course it exists. Just like all the other lobbies in Washington. The politicians can either follow their advice or not.

Yes. It exists! I think it is fine. There is nothing illegal about that. All lobbies try to influence US policy to a certain extent.

God Bless

Edit: Do they respect Americans? I think there is a love/hate relationship with the US. It is like that in most Middle Eastern countries. The Saudi royal family has excellent relations with the US. This is nothing new. Of course, Saudi Arabia is not a democracy but has a lot of Western educated intellectuals who dislike American foreign policy in the Middle East. American military bases in Saudi Arabia is protecting US interests & the Saudi regime's interests. That is one reason that Osama hates the Saudi royal family. On the other hand, the US supports Israel. And many Arabs have a problem with that.
I believe that when it comes to Middle East, one can hardly ignore the past. You should always keep an open eye to its histroy ( fall of the Ottoman empire, power play b/w the great powers, establishement of Israel- & of course the role of OIL). The past has shaped the present & the future.

Generally, the Middle East is a very divided place & presently on the brink of chaos. Particularly since the neocons have started to establish a new world order.
There is a power play between Islamists & reformers in nearly all Middle Eastern countries. I think the fundies are winning. & I am afraid that Bush's Middle east policy has contributed heavily to this shift.

Why don't you ask the Bush family. They've been "in bed" with the Saudis for many decades and still are !!

'woody...' - FDR only set the stage for the use of the 'stuff' when the Saudis hadn't a clue what to do with it once it was discovered there. His gov't made a deal with them.

On the other hand, the Bush family has been 'lining their private pockets' through the Saudis and 'butt kissing' for decades. Geo. H. W. is still 'kissing up' to them in private life, as did his father, and so on !!

I do think that Saudi lobby exists and I do think it's terrible. But we can thank good ole' FDR for getting us in bed with the Saudi family and their oil.

Definitely exists and why not? Every interest needs a lobby to get anywhere in DC.

The Saudi's have us by the short hairs and they know it. They don't need a lobby.

I am not happy with our foreign policy that, "the enemy of my enemy is my Friend." This has caused Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan to end up in battles with us. I think we should be careful about befriending a country just because they have oil.
