When someone does this I first look quickly inside to see if their criticism has any merit. If so act accordingly, if not ignore it and let them know that it was an unwarranted attack when they have calmed down. Its called self reflection or Rational emotive thinking. It takes practice and patience but its worth the effort.

I am taken a back and first try to realize the factors that might be disturbing to the other person – but I usually don’t square up until unless I consider reason of harshness is entirely personal or prejudice.

I love your cat picture! Oh, first I feel very upset. I do not like confrontation, so usually I do not say anything to the person. But there have been some people in my life who did not know when to stop! So I say to them, "Do you feel better now? Because I sure don't."
Merry Christmas!

My feelings are hurt and then I get mad, and like another on here, I will shut these people out. It is easier that way for me. Denial is a great thing!

I have quite the mouth on me if you get me mad.
So just asume it is profane and vulgar and leave it at that.
