Why do people really get annoyed, frustrated, angry when they were shocked and scared in pranks?

Pranks work best on the sweet, innocent and naive people who trust people.
When that trust is betrayed you kill a little of those qualities in the person you "pranked."
Do you remember how nice it was to believe in Santa, the Tooth Fairy or the Easter Bunny? Do you feel a little jealous of people who know that joy?
Can you feel pity for people who have been abused so much that they can't trust anybody?
The death of innocence hurts.

Because for one split second they are shown that they are not in control of what happens in their life. In a split second they can be made to feel inferior to the person that pulled off the prank. Maybe it's just because you scared them so bad that you made them soil their britches.

Because it's nerve-wracking! It provokes the "fight or flight" response in the body and is very stressful both physically and psychologically. Sometimes you can laugh it off, but it's still annoying.
