There is global warming, but it is not man made. Look at history, and you will see the same warming and cooling trends repeated every 30-40 years. Global warming is a "fear" tactic to make money. It is also something that cannot be proven. If I announced today that if we don't stop eating peanuts, that all the world's water will be gone in 500 years, who is going to be around to prove me right or wrong. Theorizing about something centuries away, is the safest predictions one can make.
We should take care of our environment, we should look for alternative fuels, and we should care about the future. But, global warming is a farce.

I think that you may get a true perspective concerning what this community believes if you research this on answers, read every answer -- there have been hundreds to dozens of questions about this -- and then, only counting each screen name once, make a tally sheet of yeas and nays. This will give you something of an opinion poll. Whether mankind's pollution (in all forms) of the planet is a significant factor in global warming, if it is happening, is unprovable and equally cannot be proved to not be the case. It is all opinion at this point. Those who believe it choose to blame mankind and ignore numerous other far greater natural factors, those who choose not to believe it do the opposite. Generally I favor the latter because they seem to consider mankind's pollution in a realistic way. On the whole I believe that global warming is beyond mankind's control and that our activities do not affect it significantly. But there is no harm and great good to be done by not polluting the Earth and by conserving natural resources.

To answer your question;

Global warming is a farce; If it was true then you would see every climatologist out there debating the issue. Al Gore will be on every TV, everyday defending his issues addressed in his movie. Yet climatologists are disputing each other and Al Gore has not once gone on TV to defend his movie as it is daily being discredited.

Al Gore has made at least 100 million dollars since his movie, and yet lives the lifestyle opposite of what a person who would if he believed his own global warming hoax.

NO, it is not a farce, it is a real problem; even people like Glenn Beck acknowledge that fact. Your problem is that you have adopted the cynical attitude that the right wing losers, like Russ Limob have. Do your own research.

We should be doing everything we can to reduce pollution that will not have an adverse effect on our economy. Isn't that reasonable. Do you like pollution? Our govt just passed an energy bill, which Bush signed, that would mandate increased energy efficiency on cars sold in the USA. That is a good step, although I am sure Russ Limbo and the neo-cons would disapprove.

The greatest cause of Global warming is all the hot air coming out of pseudo scientists and politicians.

And collect a cigar for hitten the nail dead on the head.
This is the same as in the late 70s and early 80s when the planet was going to cool to the point the sea water would become too salty and coast lines would move out making more land.
Everything warming has in reverse.

I do not think that it is a farce.
Actually, it is has been something that has been kept quiet and supressed for far too long.
Scientist were hesitant to bring this information forward for so long because they were concerned about causing a worldwide panic, opening themselves up to critics, and impacting everything from major industries to peoples everyday lives.
When a world wide panel of scientists come together and present indisputable evidence of temperatures, geographical measurements, and the decline of species that are attempting to survive and adapt to environmental habitat changes....(namely polar bears and oceanic species in arctic areas)....it cannot be ignored.
Parts of Greenland are actually melting away and disappearing. Miles and miles of their coastline where people used to actually live are...........GONE. They don't dispute the evidence.
Globally, as the temperature increases.... storms become more violent. One only need study the weather patterns on other planets to understand how temperature effects the climates on planets.
The scientists that came together to form this councel on global warming were no jokesters. These were men well studied in all forms and disciplines of science. They were the top experts meteorology, geology, astrology, oceanography, biology, microbiology, physics, chemistry, medicine, you name it... they were there.
They reviewed information according to the scientific method to evaluate past trends, current conditions, and formulated resonable future projections based on the FACTS only.
When they were done, not only did they support past information, but they said that future projections were much less harsh than they should have been....and they reformulated them to be more accurate.
When they were done with the conferance. ALL OF THEM AGREED ON THE FINDINGS. That in itself is so abnormal. To get that many scientists to agree on one issue is nearly miraculous.
This sent a definite message that something needs to be done NOW to reverse the trends of global warming.
Sticking our heads in the sand is not going to help. We must start living cleaner, less consumer driven lives to prolong our preservation of the planet. They added that even if we do everything we can do ....it may not be enough to stop the destruction of the planet....that all we can hope for is to slow the destruction of our planet a bit.
This is not tree hugger philosophy. This is a panel of the smartest minds in the world telling us... We will do this or else. Hard to argue with that.

if course we can change the worlds climate and weather. the ozone hole was a good example of this. another would be the pea soup effect of smog in London during the industrial revaluation.

in the 70s sulfide emissions (mostly from dirty coal) caused the refraction of the suns light slightly reducing global temperatures. later sulfide emissions were reduced and this sunshade effect disappeared.

the reality is that climate change is a very important issue that needs everyone to act on. you can find some good info on the subject here.

Global warming is a real issue. Not only real but very serious for all of us and for our children, and their children.
However, we can mitigate the effects.
Recycle, recycle, recycle. Everything from plastics and cans to cardboard, clothes, furniture, newspapers. If there is something you do not want, donate it. There might always be someone who needs that item and can fix it.
We should combine our errands in one trip in order to save fuel.
Save electricity, water, gas, etc.
Try to buy and use energy efficient products such as light-bulbs and other things.
However, there are times when you need to think if it is worth recycling such as: Do I want to spend a gallon of water to wash a ziploc bag to reuse it? At this time, "the remedy might be worst than the cure"
But there are several things we can do such as donating our used books or sell them online.
We should not despair but be creative in finding ways to use, reuse, and recycle in order to take better care of our environment.
Good luck!!!

When the sea level will have increased by one foot will you keep continue asking this kind of question?

The erosion of coastal areas is a reality; but it is only the beginning.

Happy new year.
