Jesus Christ those 2 words gets stuck in my throat it makes me feel physically ill to say them. As a child I often heard Jesus Christ said in anger or in exclamation or as a lament when things were going bad. I never heard any sort of nice thing about this fictional person so I have an immediate sick physical reaction. Also the self righteousness, hypocrisy and pompousness, and even greed ( catholic church) of those who "believe" he is a deity, (although i think the catholic church's priests and definitely cardinals and popes stuff think they are princes and royalty which is a hoot) are totally against everything that he was supposed to have been about, would jesus christ want the pope to be buried in gold or the priests to wear5 all that adornment or would he rather have given all to say..the Katrina victims for relief from their disaster?does anyone else ever feel sick hearing that name?

First of all Jesus as a personality isn't fictional and historians can't deny his existence.
Secondly the way people and even the church exploit his name for their benefit doesn't have any relation to Jesus.
If someone beliefs in Jesus doesn't necessarily need popes approval.
Yes I agree all these church things really seem to be different to what Jesus told.
God is supposed to work and act in a way that we can't understand, so the Katrina disaster is of course something very sad but it something like a part of god's plan (if he exists).Don't forget however if some people had taken some measures the victims wouldn't be so many. So it isn't only god's fault.

I think it's wrong playing up the church and Jesus and whatnot. He was a poor man, but He helped out the poor and the sick instead of Himself, which is pretty much cool in anyone's book.

I'm a Christian myself, so I do believe He's a deity, but I believe He was more like an everyday man of Palestine, not some king drowning in riches with golden cathedrals pronouncing His glory and might. I think He's better praised in private, or with your family in your own dwelling, than in a beautiful, expensive, massive building.

And burying the popes like Pharaohs... that's a crying shame. What would Mother Theresa think?

It is because you are ignorant about Christianity and religions, and were brain-washed by parents who caused you to relate good as evil. You know nothing about the Catholic church, except what naysayers have told you, why dont you try to learn on your own. The Catholic church helps many many victims of disaster, worldwide, to the tune of billions. How much did YOUR family give to Katrina victims?

really? thats to bad.sounds like childhood issue. when I was growing up,I was taught that all that is good is God,and all that is bad in the world is satan.well I can see that some of the churches can scare the crap out of you, like I was growing up catholic and alot of their ways just didn,t go over with me,like bowing down to a stutue of mary ect..I was told to go find what I wanted to be and I did.so I was lucky to have parents like that.but I do believe in God.so your question is a little wierd. go see a shrink maybe.

That's very strange (and sad) His Name would have such a negative effect on you. Because that Name -- through faith in that Name -- I have witnessed and PERSONALLY experienced miraculous healings from minor illnesses & injuries, to MAJOR injuries & diseases.

But like you, I grew up in a dead church (though mine was a major PROTESTANT one), whose members practiced DEAD religion. And, like you, the only times I heard them mention that Name (with any passion) was when they used it as an expletive! That sort of religion does more harm than good much of the time. If you'd mentioned an actual present-day miracle to them, they'd have -- more than likely -- revoked your membership!

2 Timothy 3:5 -- Having A FORM OF GODLINESS, but DENYING THE POWER thereof: from such turn away.

James 1:26 -- If any man among you SEEM TO BE RELIGIOUS, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. 27 PURE RELIGION and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

1 Thessalonians 1:5 -- For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but ALSO in power, AND in the Holy Ghost, and in MUCH ASSURANCE; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

Careful about which church you attend; And give Him another chance.

It's the sweetest Name I know!

I'm really sorry you feel this way. You must have had a tough childhood. But are you happy now? There's only good and evil in the world. Why not try and ignore the bad things you remember, and go for the good. It might surprise you. I'll remember you in evening prayers. ( And no, I'm NOT catholic, )

It sounds like you at least have a psychological affliction and may have some sort of demonic/spiritual affliction as well. Your post sounds like the repetitions of a school child who has been at the Academy of The Accuser of the Brethren who speaks lies into the spiritual ears of people here on earth.

If I were you I would pray or get someone who could pray in the name of Jesus that you would be set free from the snare of the Devil whom it appears has taken you captive to do his will.

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. 12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

It isn't "normal" for a person to feel physical symptoms that prevent them from saying the name of Jesus Christ. Many a God hating atheist uses the name with blasphemous impunity. It sounds demonic in nature to me.

There are more religions that exalt Jesus than Catholics. If you don't like what "man" has done, don't hold it against "THE MAN"

His name was Jesus of Nazareth... he is Jesus, the Christ (Savior)

Fictional? You may not believe He was the Son of God, but Jesus did live.

I don't feel sick about His name. His name reminds me that I should do better, help my fellow man & embrace his forgiveness.

You are making a good point. It's rather sad that the followers have turned the Original Message of "Lose your life to find it" upside down as you suggest.

But the original message was a good one. This resource shows very clearly how that original message has been turned on its head...

hey, We are sorry that you feel this way about jesus. he is a god of love. Many people do talk about him in the wrong way but that is not the god I serve. In many instances god is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. He's available to anyone who calls on his name. He seeks you. He loves you I don't think he punishes you in the way you are talking about. We cry for the people who wrongly talk about him. Come to a church of God and listen carefully. We will show you a better vision of God
