I have a 1989 Honda Accord Lxi the timing belt tensioner bolt doesn't seem to want to go back in. It only goes a little way in when I try to bolt it back on the tensioner. What do I have to do to get it to go in?

Take the bolt to an auto parts store. Get the size and thread description. Buy a new bolt and try that.

Usually these tensioners come as an assembly from the factory and since they are spring loaded you must fight the spring to get everything aligned, in a jig made for this work.
To save time and fingers, i would remove the parts and take them to a dealer who has the proper tools and knowledge

Always use fingers to screw back in first, try either way CW and CCW. You can also grind the edge of the bolt tip around
45 degree to make the bolt easier to align...and again, use fingers to screw back in the first couple of threads.
