My whole family was argueing like mom was like no they call it after dark...and my dad's like no the whole day is called christmas eve! Please help us out by telling us the answer!

Lol sounds like my family. the eve might confuse people that it means "evening" but it means coming before, so its the entire day, including the evening, which means technically your dad is half right ;) hope i helped! Merry Christmas!

Technically, it should be referred to as the day or night (as in "Twas the night before Christmas") before Christmas, since Christmas Eve, to me at least, would infer Christmas evening (as in Christmas morning, Christmas afternoon & Christmas evening) - but most consider Christmas Eve to be the NIGHT before Christmas.
