I wouldnt call today ordinary - even without celebrating Christmas (per se). I am meeting a friend and we are going to see Sweeny Todd and then to a Chinese buffet for lunch. I have received a few gifts from neighbors and friends, so I will open those later. I have red things in my living room, to add some color and this morning I am drinking special coffee. I guess, in my small way, I am celebrating Christmas, but without all the decorations, the presents, the family, the carols etc.
In my heart today is christmas, even if I stay in bed.

First off... Sorry for your loss of your daughter last year, I couldn't imagine...

We (my wife and I) stopped celebrating "corporate christmas" about 3 years ago and the the debt, frustration, and ignorance that goes with the commercialism. Instead we opt for service, volunteering, and spending the remainder with family. I THINK that if more people were honest with themselves, they would open their eyes to see what corporate greed and brainwashing has done to this great country called America! This nation was founded on biblical principle but we have lost our way. Just remember that all deception is laced with a sliver truth, and we have been deceived for far too long.

I've been to church this morning, and have my house decorated; but a year ago today I lost my daughter so it is a particularly difficult time of year, I'm not really engaging in the Christmas meal etc because I wanted to spend today on my own. I don't like the commercialism in Christmas, though I do celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ through prayer today.

I will. We always do presents on Christmas eve since my husband always works on Christmas Day. But he makes $40 an hour on this Holiday so maybe he could try to work some overtime.

Kinda. My family gets together a lot anyway, so basically, we are going to eat dinner, open presents, and then take naps. We do this about 10 times a year. So it might as well be. Thats why I love it!

Me, because my family consists of Jehovah's Witnesses and although I'm agnostic I choose not to bother with holidays, mainly for cynical reasons.

I actually don't know what I'm doing today. I opened some gifts this morning and my family was going to go up to see some relatives but they were sick so it got called off. So I dunno. I may try to get my sis to take me somewhere fun instead of staying home all day long.

People who are Jehovah's Witnesses will probably spend it like any other day.
