After Hitler invaded Russia and Churchill called for supporting Russia, he commented: 'If Hitler invaded hell I would make at least a favorable reference to the devil in the House of Commons.'

Churchill said: "I cannot forecast to you the action of Russia. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma; but perhaps there is a key. That key is Russian national interest."

He was pointing out that the best way to understand Russia was not to listen to Russian leaders, but to watch what they actually did.

Basicaly Churchill said, Any enemy of Hitler is a friend of the UK. I think he was right.
