There are three basic areas that you need to address if you wish to improve their mathematical abilities and thus you academic results:
#1: Correct attitude
A positive attitude is important for any type of learning. Negativity clouds the mind and inhibits progress. You have to believe in yourself! Also, be patient things will improve with time.
#2: Correct learning
Listen carefully. Concentrate on what is being said - and give it time to sink in.. Write things down, so you can think about them later - and ask questions about the things you can't work out.
#3: Hard work
There is no substitute for hard work. Classwork and homework are given for a reason. Sorry, but you gotta do the time if you wanna get better.
Good luck!

Know your multiplication tables by heart.
Maths is simply many small baby steps (concepts), following one after the other. Make sure you don't miss one; understand; practice.
Like everything else in life you get better at anything by *doing* it, so get a book with lots of exercises and practice, practice, practice.
Try this one: Algebra Demystified.
Don't see math problems as "problems" or tasks, but rather as puzzles. Play Sudoku puzzles to help exercise your brain and get you into logical thinking and reasoning. If you view math this way, you'll start enjoying it!

well math is like walking up a stair case, u need to step on the 3rd step before u can step on the 7th. basically it builds off a few ideas that keep getting harder. so my advice is that if u don't understand something go back to the basics.
i dont know wat kind of math u are learning but if u are having problems with multiplication go back to addition, if ur having problems with algebra go back to multiplaction and division and plug real numbers into the letters.
i hope that helps

Make sure you learn the basics, and then do multiple problems to practice it. Don't skim over any topic because it always comes back to haunt you when you think you don't need it but then you eventually do.

Perfect practice makes perfect.
Today you suck. Tomorrow you will soar.
Just keep doing it and ask questions.
