I have just hugged and put my daughter who is having her first Christmas, down for a nap. And I look at her and how beautiful she is, then I come on here to wish people a Merry Christmas, but find so many messages with hate. Why? I dont know why I taje it personally, but I just wonder why people still have to spread hate when there is so much of it in the world already. My partner and I watched a programmeon Tv, of soilders who were killed and their families are now spending their first Christmas on their own, and I think , we have so much to be thankful for. Why cant people just fel the dame? No ones life is perfect, mine isnt by any means but what I do have, is just amazing in comparison. Even my neighbour(who has caused me a bit of grief with anti social behaviour) can still wish me a merry chrsitmas. Some may call it false, but I dont care, she still has enough niceness in her to be civil as do I.Merry Chrsitmas everyone, where or whatever you may be doing.x

mmdj.. If everyone "got over it", women wouldnt have the vote, black people would still be segregated to the back of the bus, ect ect. So no, for my daughters sake and her future, I will not conform and just "get over it". Merry Christmas.

Anti... Thanks for your response, and yeah I agree. However, there are rants and there is hatred. Man I am the queen of rants, not afraid to admit it, but what I feel isnt necessary is hatred. As I said above, there is too much of it in the world.

I agree with you sentiments - even tho' I do not observe christmas I still believe I have a lot to be thankful for in this world. I have a roof over my head and clothes on my back and I am not hungry. My husband and I work to provide for our children. I know there are others on this day who do not have a place to call home. They find shelter at a bus or railway station to get out of the rain, and survive on kindness of strangers that are willing to part with a few pence and at God's good mercy.

I know what you mean last night it was like all about Nuclear war and hate and of course the conspiracy theorists. Not even giving a rest on the hate on a day that I always thought of as the one day that people usually would show some human kindness and show some goodwill to their fellow men. The beer is not hit yet for today and well I will soon be razing a glass to my friends who have died over the year. Then another glass to people who have died are not had a good year. Finally a wish that we could embrace the bringer of peace and goodwill. Who knows maybe one day the scaremongers, hate-mongers will hear all of us say these things and take note we don't want their ranting any longer.
Happy Christmas to you and all. Peace be with you.

What a good question. I agree with your sentiments and all i can say is that these people don't know you personally so try not to take it too much to heart.
I am on my own today, my daughter has gone to her Dad for Christmas and this is the first Christmas for me without my Mum, but although at times it doesn't feel like it, there are people worse off than me.
Those who post messages of hate are the ones who need to "get over it", so ignore them, let them get on with it and enjoy your Christmas.

Nice one!.
You have the Spirit of Christmas.
Many others are ruled by a little worm in their heads and cannot see good things.
Merry Christmas and a Happy Year Ahead for You and Yours.

Hi brunelsc, welcome to the real world.
I agree with you totally.
I have had the fortune or misfortune which ever way you look at it, to actually physically see for myself many parts of the world where people in this country and a lot of others would have a very serious wake up call.
In the eastern block, children in nothing better than cages like battery chickens.
Families still today in mud huts sleeping on the mud floors with flies all over them etc. They are innocent victims of powerful peoples greed, some of them will never live long enough to see proper sanitation and decent health.
And all the while in the so called western civilised world we have to listen to shouts of hatred from radical militants who in the main don't have the faintest idea of what or why they carry out the actions that they do.
Maybe if they walked around in shoes made from a water bottle cut down the middle long ways and tied to their feet with bark, if they had to make one portion of grain last two or three days and one bottle of water the same.
If they had to see their children dying of starvation etc etc etc etc etc one day maybe something will come right but whilst we have 80% of wealth owned by 20% of people there is little hope for some.
Myself and a small group have fund raised for the last few months and today threw a christmas party for elderly and people living on their own. It was attended by over fifty people of all races and the sheer joy and happiness on their faces was worth all the effort. And not one of them sat there blaming other sources for their problems they just enjoyed the day.
YES your right, we all have a lot to be thankful for. Happy new year hunix

FIRST -- don't worry so much People who criticise the McCanns as I do are not motivated by HATE. I am motivated by the fact that I am a parent like you and like them. I am also a lawyer and I am fascinated by the case itself. In addition many of us love a good WHO DUNE IT and what better than a live real one ?!
Finally there is nothing wrong in believing the (Portuguese) Police as I have since the start.
SECOND -- my thoughts were last night with the families who lost their CHILDREN in Iraq and Afghan.... God will punish those who hurt Meddie as He will punish the war-mongers of this world.
THIRD-- Your cracked lap top screen. BE CAREFUL it will leak and the contents are very corrosive and will hurt you or your kid if she touches it. There are people who will install another screen at a small fraction of the price of the manufacturers of the PC I know one in North London who repaired mine screen too. If you want to know their contact number I will tell you. Come back here and EDIT and I will give you thier contact mumber. They are a serious but small firm.
Merry Christmas

I don't think you should take it personally - Some people come on here for a bit of a rant ( i have occasionally).
They are basically anonymous so they can get away with saying outrageous things.
I'm sure they would be perfectly polite if you met them in the street.
Merry Christmas.

Maybe it's because they are a bit lonely today (and in their life) and the thought of other peope getting lots of cards and prezzies makes them jealous- I ignore them.
If people can shoot at each other and throw bombs but have a game of football on Christmas day, then being kind to people on today of all days isn't just being nice, it is something we all should have to do.
Done my presents, son is going mental (I got him a wii) the dogs got stockings, all I need now is a huge dinner, a port & brandy and maybe a little kip.
Childs' first Christmas? Bet you bought far too many toys! And why not.
Today means lots of things to different people-for me it means having a realy good laugh-and I'm not going to let some narrow minded losers ruin it for me.
Merry Christmas you three!
