It has been announced by Buckingham Palace that our future monarch, Prince William, will not be attending church today to celebrate the birth of our saviour.

Is it a national disgrace that our future defender of tha faith will not be at church today. It has already been announced on Sky News that both he and Prince Harry spent last night drinking heavily in a London nightclub so they are obviously too hung over to mark Christ's birth.

No Hannahm, it is not his choice. He will be god's appointed representative on earth so he MUST go to church!

Luckily we still have the freedom to choose our religion in this country and also to choose not to have one at all.
Maybe they are attending a private chapel in the palace, maybe they are with their regiments, maybe they went to the midnight service before going out for a drink last night.
Didn't Charles take an oath or make a comment about defender of faiths, not faith? To me that signifies religious freedom and gives us the right to follow any or no faith and that the monarchy will defend that right. Doesn't mean to say they have to be religious themselves.

He is just exercising his right to choose. Millions of people all over the country have also chosen not to attend church.
He is only destined to be defender of the faith eventually by accident of birth. Its not like he applied for the job.

Niether he nor Harry give a damn about duty or appearances. That is their choice but, boy, do they like their privileges. They do seem to love running up enormous drinks bills in trendy nightclubs for which they don't have to pay. And people say William should be the next King and not Charles! I give up!

I was drinking heavy last night and still managed to say a prayer for peace on this earth. You do not have to be a building to say a word to God anyway.
Prince William in not the representative of God on earth and no one is, Not even the pope claims such a title. No one but deluded cult leaders ever make such a claim that they represent God on Earth.

our savior????? ha ha why is it a disgrace? why would any one want to spend Christmas in a place they didnt want to be? this is 2007.....god does not exist for every body. and its a good thing in my opinion. religion represents very little other than violence and opression. i think the good will of man is what christmas should be about. not religion.

God's appointed representative ??? Henry VIII appointed himself as the head of the church not God - however, I agree they should attend, hangover or not.
Edit: Sky news says William and Harry are spending Christmas with their regiments.

If you genuinely have religious beliefs, perhaps you can explain why your god cares whether someone is in church or not in church. Is a prayer only a prayer if said in church? Wouldn't he know what was in someone's heart regardless of where they happen to be? What would your god see in YOUR heart?
As a non-believer in deities, it does not bother me what you or various princes are up to today provided you are doing it with respect for other people. As for the monarch being head of the church of England, perhaps it is time for a complete disassociation between religion and state.

Perhaps he should, But he does not bear the cross of Christ, we all do. Christ paid the debts of all our sins on the cross not just for Prince William.
