I'm building a PC today, and I'm worried that I have installed the cpu incorrectly. (But i'm certain the pin1 and notches are in the right place). When I placed it in and gently nudged it, it moved slightly from side to side. I tried putting it in again, and still did it, so I assumed it was ok. Then when I put the latch down, it seemed stiffer than I expected (but it is my first time). The cpu seemed a bit off-centre, and i'm worried its broken. Any thoughts?

As long as you lock down the lever and its not moving you should be fine. I'm pretty sure all CPU's only fit in one way. Make sure to add the thermal grease between the CPU and the heatsink.

The processor will only slot in one way ... the two little notches at the top of the processor fit snugly around the two little arms in the processor socket ... the latch is supposed to be firm to hold the processor in place ... and the Thermal Grease (Grey pad) will already be on the Heatsink so you don't need to add anymore

listen carefully it is ok and i think u hace installed CPU in a proper way and the reason of latch become more stiffer because first it was empty & now u have put a processor (CPU) in it so dont need to worry, it will be a bit tight to close that latch at it is ok........
