How about "sleeping in"? Even better if it's with a friend.

Shalom!

The traditional thing to do is go out for Chinese food and go to a movie. Our family has been doing it for decades and we always bump into tons of other Jews we know doing the same thing. I think it all started years ago when everything else was closed on Christmas day except for the movie theaters and Chinese restaraunts.

Sure, you could just stay home on Christmas, but many people kind of feel like everyone else is out having a nice time with thier families, and since you have the day off you figure you might as well be too.

In my town, the two synagogues and the Islamic Center send volunteers to the Catholic hospital and the soup kitchen, to relieve Christian staffers so they could be at home for their holiday.
I was at the soup kitchen. It was great! Best way to spend a Christmas Day I've ever found. The synagogues call it the "Christmas Mitzvah".
And yep, with Jews and Muslims preparing and serving the food, wouldn't you just know they sent ham?? :-)
