when they are obviously still just bratty teenagers?

2007-12-24 20:26:31 · 14 answers · asked by Shannon XoXo 5 in Pregnancy & Parenting Adolescent

I didn't say that I was talking about ALL teen mothers. I just know some girls who are like this and even ones who get pregnant on purpose because they think it's a good idea and it will get them what they want.

wasn't trying to stereotype anyone.

Who knows? I think if they want to be treated like adults then when they get pregnant they should move out of their parent's home and pay their own bills, buy their own clothes and do it all on their own like everyone else does.

Until they can live out on their own and do for themselves they are little kids with a kid needing mommy's help.

I hate when people say babies having babies. When you can start reproducing, you ain't a damn baby! I also hate the misconceptions outsiders bring, when they don't know **** about being a teen parent.

Teen parents have enough things going on in their lives. They don't need your condescending eyes passing judgement on them. Have you given birth to a child out of wedlock? Have you had to go to school pregnant, overcome by morning sickness, and tired? Are you even a teen parent? I'm guessing not since you don't have a clue what goes into the problems of a teenager and the added stress a pregnancy and then what parenting brings. Walk a mile in their shoes then ask yourself such an ignorant question. They expect the world to start treating them like adults, because now they are. When you do to the doctor for your prenatal visits, even if your parent is there, the doctor address the pregnant woman and NOT the teen's mother. If you need medacaid or some type of government assistence, the case worker addresses the expectation mother, not the mother's parents. When the expectation teen has to fill out paperwork it's get name and her information that goes on the paper. It's their life and dreams that have to take a back burner so that the child is taken care of.

Maybe some of the teens you are around act "bratty" because their parents refuse to let them grow up, but in my neck of the woods having a baby strips you of the right to be called a teenager and to act as teens do. We don't get to go out on Friday night. We don't go to the football and basketball games. We don't get gifts for Christmas because we do for our kids. I'm just 17 and I really don't appreciate the attitudes of some people who don't have a clue, what it's like to be underage and pregnant.

You know, I'm going to be a teen mum in 2 months, and I'm not a bratty teenager. In fact, I'm the one who does everything in my house, along with my brother. I cook and clean and take care of everything while my mother is shopping and my father is doing business. I'm moving out with my soon to be husband in less than a year, and I'm going to be taking care of my child without the help of any sort of welfare. If you didn't know my age and looked at my situation, you would assume I am an adult. It's quite offensive that you would make such a broad statement about teenage mothers, we're not all like that.

I had a teen pregnancy and didn't expect anything. Personally, I find this question offensive & I don't get offended that easy.

I was considered a very mature teenager, and even sat on a board with my doctor, in which we received a grant for $25,000 from Target. Obviously more mature then you, as you've proved by asking this question.

You need to check yourself when making a general statement.

Before my son was born, I graduated high school (I hurried it up), and now he's only 2 years old and I just barely graduated with my Bachelors degree. (In case you don't know, that's 4 years of University work under my belt).

I'm surprised you are a "top contributer", because this question is straight up rude. Please don't be a jerk. Merry Christmas to you too.

Teens ARE ADULTS. Only Adults can become pregnant. What is pitiful is a nation of bratty adults trying to pretend they are still children.

Thats pretty stereotypical. Not all teenagers mean to get pregnant, sometimes its by accident. Have you ever heard of rape victims?

I don't know, I am still wondering why some teens are having sex in the first place.

some do it for respect, and expect the world to comply.
some do it for welfare/money.
some do it because they want a kid, (to some it seems like the world is against them.)
