I don't think it is really the gifts that are more expensive. I think that more than anything that it is the cost of everything else around us. Energy prices have caused skyrocketing in groceries and dry goods. The use of Ethanol has caused the spike in Grain prices. Gold is at it's highest price in years. The housing market is falling apart and no one seems to care. Gasoline is almost as expensive as gold. We are paying a higher price for everything right now. So, of course we feel the crunch at Christmas and that is why the consumer buying index is down. Inflation is not a positive point in any market.
Christmas is Christmas to me. I have a granddaughter and grown sons and they all need Christmas.
I hope the economy improves before next year. I pray that the people caught up in the negativity of the housing market will be spared.

I don't really know. I bought through out the year so I was done when Christmas was here. So I never felt the effect of spending to much money at one time. Love, honey

Absolutely, not only that family members are not getting any smaller in count. I'm more than half way closer to being broke right now. Merry Christmas!

Yes, and not only because of increased prices. The toys made in China are a danger to our children. That in itself has made Christmas not only too high, but too risky in terms of buying children's toys.

the rich get richer & the poor get poorer. it costs more because the price of fuel effects every thing you buy. try to think of something that does not see the inside of a truck.

Naaa. My family members, cousins, sisters and brothers set limits on cost and also draw names, so no one is over burdened with expenses.
