I've seen at least a dozen questions asking how annoying people find it, they get a lot of answers that boil down to "Truly Annoying" and I'm only watching a small part of Y!A.

Coming so close on the heels of the Child Labor Scandal, I doubt that the effect can be good.

What do you think?

And does anyone think this has a chance to become a featured question?

I'm not sure how well shock ads work, TD. I remember the "Apply directly to the forehead" slogan, but not the brand.

I really dont care one way or the other. I have not heard that commercial yet, thank God. Even if I was upset at it and the child labor scandal, if they had what I was looking for and were cheaper then another, I would go and buy from them.

I just didn't get the chance to ask the question about that ad, I answered ine question though. I hate that, and yes so annoying. but to be honnest I don't think this ad in particular will hurt their sales. I uesd to shop at GAP and used to love their clothes. Last time I bought from them was last winter, Last time was there. was after thanksgiving. the reason that I don't shop anymore is just there's nothing interesting. the same clothes, very expensive. I shop from old navy, better price. by the way Old Navvy, GAP, Banana Republic are the same corporation.
anyways, I hope they will take the ad off or t list keep it mute all the time

The "Shock Ad" is not new. I hate them, but they work. The people who are annoyed spread the brand name with discussions like this.

"Brand Recognition" has become "Brand Cognizance." They just want the name out there because they know that a juicy percentage of consumers either don't know good from bad, or prefer bad.

"GAP, apply directly to the forehead!"
"GAP, apply directly to the forehead!"
"GAP, apply directly to the forehead!"

Well I don't know if it is enough to make a dent, but I do know for a fact it will hurt sales. I don't plan to visit there again. Old Navy has products just as good and the ads are cute and not intrusive. I am not sure who did the marketing plan on this... but I bet they lose their job.

The ad will hurt them if we get so angry we let them know how we feel. I, for one, am not going to shop at Gap unless and until they remove the ad and if they ever put a similar one on, I swear I'll never again walk into one of their stores!!

I hope it does. I actually wouldn't mind the ad so much, but Amy Poehler? If you're going to force a pop-up on me Yahoo, at least make it one starring someone REMOTELY talented and entertaining.

Yes...definitely! I changed my mind about buying myself a GAP sweater simply because the GAP ad in Y!A annoys me so very much!!!

I for one am heartily sick to the gills of it, and I most certainly will not be purchasing any of their products in the future...it is an incredibly intrusive and inane advert' and I can only think that it will be harming their profits.

I saw a talking ad on Myspace. It had a button CLICK FOR VOLUME.
See the difference?
They didn't assume we cared about THEM!
