Is this obsession or love. What is the best way to distinguish the two?

doktrgroove: sorry to say that I am in this situation and I am the victim. This has result in an affair (which is my fault to solve a marriage problem) though it has ended. I wonder if I should file a divorce when the third party issue is 'gone' and give 6 mths to look into it. We are under counselling now.

She is insecure and needs to control her husband by being a part of his life 24/7. It's EXTREMELY unhealthy and will be a major factor in their eventual breakup.

The difference between the two is that love feels good, but obsession/insecurity feels bad.

You have lost her trust. Trust once lost is hard to recover. Counseling should help but open and honest communications between the both of you would be recommended. You see it as obsessing, she sees it as betrayal. She has a right to be hurt and probably feels that you will do it again if given the chance. You will have to work very hard to regain her trust.

Why on earth would anyone want to attach to anyone 24/7?

There must be some sort of insecurity or jealousy issue.

I would say either obcession or a huge lack of trust.

Love can be obcessive.

I think he is very insecure.

Get couples counseling.

Check in with him ocassionally.

It's an obsession borne from insecurity. You will never win. You're not actually married to her, are you?
