I am feeling a little down that the lead singer of influential bands The Outlaws/Lynyrd Skynyrd and Boston, and the inimitable Dan Fogelberg all suddenly passed away this year. I feel older and somehow more obligated to sing because of these events. Is anyone else affected like I am by this year's losses, or are there other years that you felt like this? Love to hear from the music lovers.

Delp committed suicide this summer, while Fogelberg and Thomasson had sudden health issues. Hughie had a heart attack about three weeks ago and Dan had a quick remission on his prostate cancer Dec 8.

You forgot Kevin DuBrow Bro
I was saddended by all of them. Brad Delp always had one of the most beautiful soaring voices in all of Rock IMO.
And what can I say about Hughie Tommasson but...The Outlaws ruled.
2007 was a bad year for the passing of so many great classic rockers.

well hughie thomasson wasn't the lead singer for skynyrd, but anyway, it's been a tough year...skynyrd is high on my list of favorite bands and thomasson was a good addition for them for the time he was there...fogelberg was a great songwriter, leader of the band is a very touching song...and brad delp was one of the better vocalists of the 70s and 80s, it's a shame that he chose to take his own life while he was engaged and just about to be married

It's OK!!! John Kay from Steppenwolf, Ian Gillan From Deep Purple, Robert Plant from you know where (lol) still here! Don't be down. We will always remember them for the greatness that they did. For everything they gave not just musically but as an inspiration. I understand My mum brought me up on this music. But all the one's I love are dead already.

And yes When I heard Barrett was gone I cried for days! He died in his little shed with no friends and Pink floyd happened because of him. That get me a little angry. When I found out Dimebag died I was at work and I really did just break down and have to call my mum. They were my idols and you dont think they are going to go. But they are still people too.

Merry christmas

I saw u like Bob Dylan!! Me and my mum went to see Dylan this year he was great, he did some of his olds, but most of his new stuff I love Dylan too man.

They seem to hit, one right after the other, don't they? Just as I was getting over Syd Barrett and Arthur Lee in 2006, 2007 seemed even worse. Boston is one of my favorite bands and it really gets depressing that such great mucisians have gone. I'm 17 so I don't have many years of memories to go on, but 2007 does seem pretty harsh on rock. I'm not a huge Quiet Riot fan, but we also lost Kevin DuBrow recently too.

dear uncle dodge,
the stats tell us that 250,000 people die every day. Of course, some of our "personal beloveds" will be among them.
Not including my mom, who really couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, I lost a whole bunch of opera singers, whose standards I never could nor never will live up to. Thank goodness someone invented recordings!
while we do feel the loss of some people more than others,
let us not close our hearts to those we never met. Keep on singing for them and the rest of us, not only right now during holidays, but every day of your life.
All the best,
Lynn
