I'm an NL fan and I'm so sick of the AL's dominance in the All Star Game.

It's a cyclical thing, although with only one data point per year, it takes a long time to see when it turns. Know that from 1963-82, the NL had a 19-1 record against the AL in the ASG. The AL currently is on a 10-0-1 streak, but that's only half as long yet.

In a Christmas miracle, a good point is made above by someone not noted for such insight -- the leagues really are very much homogenized in these modern times, and this wholesale destruction of individual league identity (while at least leaving behind the brand names) does belong almost entirely to Selig's actions. Like Coke v. Pepsi, there are some small differences but basically the same thing. This is what it is, but one side effect has been the draining of deep interest by the players in the ASG outcome -- no one much feels a lot of league affiliation, players or fans. It's there, but severely lessened from days of yore.

Could ramble on, but won't. Kids are getting antsy for more rippin' o' the gifties. Enjoy the day.

The National League DOMINATED (absolutely dominated!) the All-Star game from the late-50's through the early-80's, after the AL had won 12 of the first 16 games played. Now the AL is back. It's cyclical, that's all. The NL will (at some point) begin to win games in a row and it will all even out. Especially since players switch back and forth between leagues much more commonly now than in decades past.

The NL dominated not for a decade, but for over 2! At one point they were 19-1 with 1 tie. Nah. I'm not tired yet. Let it go on at least until they're about even. You realize, don't you, that even with the last 10 or 12 years the NL is still the leader? Let the AL fans have a little time with bragging rights!!!

I am a NL fan but I am not tired of seeing the AL winning. There were times when the NL had a streak like the one the AL is having now and the NL is going to have to step up and do something about it.

I'm not sick of it at all. The game is there for the taking by each team. The AL has won as of late, but as others have mentioned here, it is a cyclical thing.
I'm an AL fan, but i don't think that the NL truly wants to win on many occasions.

Me. I am 50 and loved it in the 60s and 70s when the NL romped in these games. Now my NL stinks. I have not watched an all star game in a long time. I know the outcome early my team will lose.

Nobody cares... the days of League bias are WAY over. If this were 1910... or 1950... or 1970 maybe someone would care, but we grew up in a world where both leagues are considered the same basically. That's why the all-star game doesn't matter anymore... that's why Selig tried this stupid home field advantage thing (which sucks).

There is nothing you can do for the all-star game except have the players give a hoot about it... but why should they when the fans don't even give a hoot? At least not anyone under 60 years old...

The days of the senior and junior circuit are long gone...

First of all the best players don't play in the all-star game by claiming they are hurt or something.
Second, not many fans care who wins the all-star game because it is meaningless to most of us.
Third, since most players are only in the game a few innings then your never seeing the best against the best for a whole game.
Conclusion: I don't care who wins!

the team i root for is in AL but it would be nice if i dunno we could mix up the wins a bit. i don't think i've personally seen NL win (on my tv) but i've heard that they dominated for quite a while back then

the all star game already has almost the same all stars everytime anyway cuz fans just vote for their fav player not the all stars of the season.
merry christmas!
