When I fell pregnant quite a few months ago a quit cold turkey but had a miscarraige at only 5 weeks. The doctor told me that quitting would not harm my baby but I have heard stories. I am so scared that if I quit cold turkey I will miscarry again. I have cut down from half a pack a day to about 4.
I need to know a good way to quit and also if quitting cold turkey will cause a miscarraige.

Can I also get answers that don't make me say "well DUH". I really need people who have experienced this sort of thing.

I have quit smoking before. I used these cigarettes called Quest cigarettes, they are made with tobacco but processed in a way that removes some or all of the nicotene. There is three levels of reduced nicotene. It's recommended to start with a carton of the one with slightly reduced, then the one with more reduced, and then smoke the ones that have basically no nicotene in them at all. I know that seems like it will take a long time but what like 3 weeks? and it's the least stressful way I can think of because you are gradually cutting down the nicotene plus you can still have a smoke if you're feeling stressed.

when I did it I just went straight to the no nicotene ones and smoked them for a week after which I did not really have a desire to smoke anymore. But I was not pregnant and maybe the whole 3 step process would be less stressful for you and the baby.

these cigarettes are only sold in some states though so if you are like me you will have to order them online. But it's like.. the same price it would be buying them in a store.

What you are doing sounds great. I very much doubt that the quiting cold turkey caused the miscarriage, but I don't know. I had a friend have the same experience. Lucky for her she didn't start up again (tell me she isn't wonder woman after the stress of a miscarriage) and a few months later she got pregnant again and everything is perfect, she's about half way through. I would just focus on cutting back as much as you can, you have made a great start, congratulations.

I quit cold turkey. But a guy who quit smoking after, I forget how many years exactly, but it was like 20-30 years, told me how he did it. Since you're down to 4 a day, it might work for you. He said that he put an unopened pack in plain sight, where he would see it every day. Each day he would tell himself when he seen the pack, 'no, not today. no, its been so many days. no, not today.' He said that having them there is what helped him quit, that they were there if he should want to change his mind. That if they were not there, that the craving for them would have beat him.
Sort of like the car thing. When you have access to a car all the time, you can think of nowhere to go. But as soon as it breaks down you think of all of these places you need to go, and need to go right then. Never fails.
